The whiteboard schedule
One person allocates jobs from memory, and nobody else can do it when they're off.
✦ Trades
Scheduling, mobile job sheets, certificates and quoting, built for how your trade actually works - not a generic job management app with your logo on it.
✦ Where it hurts
One person allocates jobs from memory, and nobody else can do it when they're off.
Compliance documents filled in from a paper form or a photo, days after the job.
Pricing is consistent only because one person remembers what was charged last time.
Paperwork arrives late, so billing lags and disputes over what was done are hard to settle.
Parts fitted are recorded eventually, if at all, so stock figures are always wrong.
You bought a job management app built for one trade and are working around it for the parts that don't match yours.
✦ Foundations
The core is the same across electrical, plumbing and general engineering work. What differs is the detail, covered below.
✦ Electrical
Electrical work lives or dies on certification. EIC, EICR and minor works certificates need to be generated in the correct format from the test results actually recorded on site, not typed up separately afterwards from a paper form.
We build certificate generation directly from the job data: test readings captured on the engineer's app produce the certificate as a PDF before they leave site, issued to the customer and filed against the property automatically. That also means periodic inspection reminders can be scheduled against the property rather than tracked on a separate spreadsheet.
✦ Plumbing and heating
For plumbing and heating engineers, the two things that matter most are gas safety compliance and knowing exactly what's fitted where. Gas Safety Records need the same treatment as electrical certificates: generated from the job, issued immediately, filed against the property with the next due date tracked automatically.
Boiler and appliance service history matters just as much for warranty and manufacturer requirements, so we build asset records per property that carry forward from job to job, meaning an engineer arriving at a callout can see exactly what was fitted, when, and by whom, rather than starting from nothing.
✦ General engineering
General engineering and maintenance firms tend to run more planned preventative maintenance work than reactive callouts, which changes what the software needs to do well. Contract coverage, visit generation and profitability per contract matter more than single-job quoting.
We build PPM contract management that generates the visit schedule automatically, tracks what's covered against what's chargeable, and rolls asset history forward so a recurring fault is visible rather than treated as new each time an engineer visits.
✦ Questions we get asked
For straightforward reactive work, buy one. Bespoke pays off when your certification, contract structure or pricing rules are unusual, or when a generic app's per-engineer licence cost has outgrown a build.
Yes. EIC, EICR and minor works certificates are generated from the test data captured on the engineer's app, issued and filed without retyping.
Yes, on the same principle: generated from the job on site, issued immediately, with the next due date tracked automatically.
Fully. Job data, certificates and signatures work offline and sync automatically when a connection returns.
Yes. Visit generation, coverage and profitability per contract are built in, which matters more for general engineering firms than for reactive-only trades.
Yes. Completed jobs create invoices in Xero, Sage or similar without anyone re-keying them.
